PRIMERGY TX120 S2

Environmentally-Friendly Server Products

A heritage of performance, reliability and efficiency

The Environmental Protection Agency has stated that data center energy consumption has doubled in the past five years and is expected to nearly double again in the next five. Reducing energy consumption by improving IT equipment and utilizing it in the most efficient ways have thus become major goals of enterprises, as well as equipment manufacturers. Fujitsu is committed to the key strategies identified to help solve this problem, including the use of multi-core processors and sophisticated cooling methods.

  • The PRIMERGY® BX900 server is a compact, low-power blade server system with virtualization, cooling, power consumption visualization and other advanced tools that together cut power usage by about 40 percent compared to a 2006 rack server model.
  • ServerView Suite/ServerView Resource Coordinator VE is a high-performance middleware with power consumption visualization and other highly advanced power management and system virtualization functions to deliver energy-saving operations.
  • The Cool Safe design of PRIMERGY and PRIMEQUEST® servers increases cooling efficiency, thus reducing the amount of energy required to cool servers in the data center. The Cool Safe architecture by Fujitsu optimizes how airflow is channeled in the server's housing. A liquid-cooled version raises the heat sink above the flow of air to the unit's memory and other components. We also offer liquid-cooled racks for rack-mounted PRIMERGY systems.
  • PRIMERGY servers are built with high-performance dual-core or quad-core processors from Intel® or AMD. These multi-core CPUs boost performance per watt over single-core CPUs by reducing the amount of power consumption needed by an equal number of separate processors. The Xeon processors in most PRIMERGY servers are equipped with demand-based switching, which lets the CPU automatically adjust its own power usage depending on system needs. When demand for CPU resources is low, users don't notice a difference in performance when the processor slows down reducing core voltage requirements. When loads increase, the processor speeds back up and raises core voltage.
  • PRIMERGY servers can be powered down to standby mode. In addition, they can be entirely powered off and back on regularly at specified times of day to save energy consumption during periods of light usage. This is achieved via the machine's management controller.
  • PRIMEQUEST servers are being offered as a "Fujitsu Super Green" product, distinguishing it as a leading environmentally friendly product based on the Fujitsu Group's green assessment guidelines. Fujitsu has succeeded in cutting the series' maximum power consumption by approximately 1/3.
